Kim Jong-kook at DFA 2015The 3rd DramaFever Awards ceremony, sponsored by Toyota, took place on Thursday 5 February, in the magnificent Hudson Theatre of New York City, in presence of a roster of high profile guests. Yuki Furukawa was the first to walk the red carpet, followed by Kpop band 5urprise, Arden Cho, George Hu, while Kim Jong-kook was the last. Hudson Yang, young actor of the new multicultural ABC series Fresh Off the Boat, also made a surprise appearance.

George Hu Arden Cho Toast Kiss DFA 2015For the event, the DramaFever had a giant trophee sculpted in ice, welcoming fans at the entrance. Lucky fans able to get tickets for the VIP reception were all dressed up and could compete at an Instagram contest helmed by online celebrities, Fei from “Fridays with Feiii” and Janie from “Janie’s Tips and Tricks“. F(x)’s Krystal is said to have secretly infiltrated the opening reception.

As the winners were announced, talented musicians played the theme songs of the corresponding dramas, and various DramaFever Studio talents took stage for some awards. George Hu and Arden Cho lived up to the expectations as hosts, and even performed a hilarious re-enactment of the “toast kiss” scene in Pinocchio.

Seo Kang-joon Best Bromance DFA 2015Fans were also called for contribution, with Texan Marisa Luckie, winner of the Camry Boldest Moment Fan Contest for her reenactment of Flower Boy Next Door, awarding the Camry Boldest Moment to Emergency Couple, while The Nutty Nomads provided the audience with another crazily funny webisode on how it would be to live in a Korean drama.

Last but not the least, actors Yuki Furukawa (Best Japanese Drama for Mischievous Kiss 2) and Seo Kang-joon (Best Bromance for Sly and Single Again) came on stage to get their trophees, and 5urprise gave not one but two singing performances.

Absent awardees were also kind enough to send videos to thank the fans for voting for them – among them, Kim Soo-hyun, but not for a drama actually (for his movie Secretly Greatly). You can check out the acceptance speeches on the DramaFever Awards playlist we made on our YouTube channel.
