The Bridge & Bethel Media partner in search for UK-Korea coproductions
At the London K-Drama Week, we met with Amanda Groom, the head and co-founder of media consultancy The Bridge. The company was launched in May 2014, and backed by UK production and distribution group, Argonon. It aims at promoting further collaboration between UK and Korean television productions.
Good news is that The Bridge just agreed to a partnership with Bethel Media Contents Group, organizers of the Korean TV contents showcase on July 11, that will see the companies coproduce TV series for the global marketplace, bringing together producers from the UK, US and South Korea. (1)
Groom who had previously secured £400,000 (US$678,000) in investment for three factual coproductions with UK indies (2), is looking for more propositions both in the factual and factual entertainment arenas. Criteria for funding are 1) relevance to the Korean market, 2) a UK or foreign broadcaster attached, 3) submitted by mid-December.
