LKDC MeetUp #7: Dinner at Judy Joo’s Jinjuu
Although we did wish 2015 to be favorable to a rising interest in our events, this first LKDC meetup could not have been more successful. With 14 passionate participants, and many more wishing they had been available, our evening at Judy Joo’s Jinjuu this Monday (26 January) was definitely very enjoyable.
A twist of fate had us meeting the same day as Judy Joo’s TV show Korean Food Made Simple premiered on the Food Network UK.
As the menu was not online yet at the time of our event (it is now!), we arrived at the venue completely unaware of what would come out of the celebrity chef’s kitchen. The offering turned out to be really innovative, from pork belly tacos to fried round prawn cakes on sticks (sae-woo pops), as well as Asian slaw (a sort of coleslaw with Korean flavours). Yujacha served in a traditional pot was welcome to end the meal on a sweet note, although many other desserts were available, and both Hite beer and soju are available for those wishing to end the evening “happily”.
Judy was also so kind to come up and say hi to all the guests at her restaurant, a warm gesture that added to the friendly atmosphere. While the elegant and pleasant environment made everyone feel comfortable, the eccentricity of the toilets’ K-pop wall papers made everyone laugh.
If another opportunity arises, we will definitely be back to Jinjuu. We would like to thank Jinjuu for the great evening and wish the restaurant to continue attracting attention and provide a smooth introduction to Korean savors to new audiences.
All participants and non-participants are welcome to submit their suggestions of 10 Korean dramas from 2013 to 2015, not yet available on DramaFever nor Viki to info@daehandrama.com by the Friday 11:59pm.
