The yearly London Korean Film Festival is back for its 11th edition, opening on Thursday November 3rd with the UK Premiere of female director Lee Kyoung-mi’s The Truth Beneath at London’s Picturehouse Central cinema and closing with the same film at Queen’s Film Theatre in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

The Korean Cultural Centre UK (KCCUK) will be presenting over 60 films, from contemporary hits to classic cinema, in London but also in Glasgow, Manchester, Sheffield, Nottingham and Belfast. Besides a special focus on female Korean directors and a selection of hits of the past 12 months, the festival will include diverse strands, namely Classics, Indie Firepower, Documentaries, Shorts, Animation, and Artist Video.

Guests will include director Lee Kyoung-mi (The Truth Beneath, Crush and Blush), director Kim Sung-su (Asura: The City of Madness, The Flu, Musa), actor Jung Woo-sung (Padam Padam…, Athena: Goddess of War, Asura), director Yim Soon-rye (Whistle Blower, Forever the Moment), actor Baek Yoon-shik (Tomorrow Cantabile, A Tree with Deep Roots; Inside Men, The Face Reader), director Lee Chang-ho (God’s Eye View, The Man with Three Coffins),  director Park Hong-min (Alone, A Fish) and French-Korean director Soa Sung-a Yoon.

Actor Jung Woo-sung – who was there at the 2014 edition of the festival for Revivre – will take part in a Q&A after the screening of Asura: The City of Madness, together with director Kim Sung-su – who came back in 2013 for The Flu – on Friday November 4th 5:30pm.

Most importantly for us, however, will be veteran actor Baek Yoon-shik’s Q&A after The Taste of Money screening and intro before Inside Men: The Original screening on Sunday November 6th. With his most recent television drama role in KBS’s Korean remake of the Japanese classic Tomorrow’s Cantabile currently available on Netflix UK, we also hope to be able to learn more about his return to the small screen, after enjoying success in the film industry. The festival will reflect such by screening a selection of 6 of his most significant movies.
