Actress Kim Soo-hyun joins Ha Ji-won within United Talent Agency (UTA)
Being cast in Avengers 2: Age of Ultron was already a big step for actress Kim Soo-hyun, who has made herself a name in South Korea with appearances in TV dramas such as Brain and 7th Grade Civil Servant. Things are going even better for her, as on August 14, shortly after finishing working on the new Marvel movie, she has signed an exclusive contract with United Talent Agency (UTA), one of the top two talent agencies in the United States – and we can easily say worldwide.
She will therefore join Korea’s #1 actress (if we dare say so), Ha Ji-won – who signed with the agency around the same time last year -, but also many other such as British actors Simon Pegg, Kate Beckinsale, Benedict Cumberbatch, Daniel Radcliffe, Tilda Swinton and one of China’s top actresses, Li Bingbing.
Avengers 2: Age of Ultron – in which she plays the role of a scientist/doctor – will premiere on May 1, 2015. But, in the meantime, she already got a busy schedule to herself with a role in Netflix’s fourth original series, Marco Polo, co-produced by not less than The Weinstein Company and Electus and filmed in Malaysia, as well as another in Hollywood movie Equals, starring Twilight’s Kirsten Stewart and X-Men’s Nicholas Hoult. The specifics of her roles have not been revealed yet.
The actress has likely left the UK already, and we wish her well in Hollywood (and Malaysia)! But we also secretly (or maybe not so secretly) hope to see her again in other Korean dramas.
Oh and by the way, she will now go by the international name of Claudia Kim. But we will remember her as Kim Soo-hyun, as it reminds us of another of K-drama fans’ favorite actors.
