- Synopsis
- At the dawn of his 25 years, Sokuro, son of Burkinabé immigrants living in Italy, perpetuates family traditions by marrying Nassira, a young woman from his native village, a few kilometers from Ouagadougou. Back home in Italy after the wedding, Sokuro lives his daily life, punctuated by the exhausting work in the factory, the shouting sessions with his little brother Nassir, the daily phone calls to his wife who always needs more money to make her living and a father constantly absent due to work until Sokuro’s boss decides not to renew his contract. Completely broke and unable to bear the distance with his wife, Sokuro decides to join her in Ouagadougou anyway: he wants to marry her at the town hall, in order to make their marriage official and thus begin the family reunion procedure. In order to do this, he has only one option: to get into debt with his mother and his friends, asking them to send him money for the marriage to take place. Before returning once again to Italy after this second marriage, Sokuro makes a promise to his wife: he will find a stable job to prove to the Italian authorities that he will be able to support her. In a few months, he tells her, they will be reunited in Europe ... But will he succeed?
